Aaron To Moderate CLE On Voting Rights Act

The New Orleans Bar Association's Minorities in the Profession Committee on the 50-year Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 will present a one-hour CLE entitled: The Voting Rights Act of 1965 Fifty Years Later: A March from Selma to Charleston 

The CLE will be moderated by Bill Aaron of the law firm of Aaron & Gianna, PLC.   The CLE will take place on August 6, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. at the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal in New Orleans.   Panel members will include Professor Robert S. Westley of Tulane University, Louisiana State Representative Wesley Bishop, and Ernest Jones of the law firm of Elie, Jones, and Associates.    They will discuss the evolvement of the Voting Rights Act, including the effect of the United States Supreme Court’s decision of Shelby County, Ala. V. Holder, 133 S. Ct. 2612 (6/25/13), which struck down key provisions of the Voting Rights Act.
