Judge: BellSouth Owes City of New Orleans

The Associated Press reported this morning on a June 6, 2011 ruling by Federal Judge Eldon Fallon finding that BellSouth Telecommunications a subsidiary of AT&T owes the City of New Orleans more than $5.1 Million for the use of the City's rights of way since 2007 subject to a yet to be determined credit for discounted phone service that Bellsouth has provided to the City.   The June 6th ruling is the latest development in a lawsuit filed by the City in 2009.   As noted by the Associated Press this is a complex case involving various agreements, disputes, settlements and ordinances dating back to  the late 19th Century.  The City of New Orleans has been represented in this matter by the law firms of Aaron, PLC  and Leblanc Butler, LLC and the City's Law Department.  To view the June 6th and other rulings in City of New Orleans v.
